Alan is a second year med student who came from Darwin to study in Hobart.  Previously he ran a pathology company in the Northern Territory and is an illicit drug specialist/toxicologist by background (cannabis is his main interest but only from a scientific perspective!).  He is passionate about a rural lifestyle and hopes to return to the Territory one day.

NRHSN Snr Representative

The NRHSN Snr represents Rustica to the National Rural Health Students Network (NRHSN), a national body representing 27 Rural Health Clubs. The NRHSN aims to support clubs by harassing the power of good intent, share ideas and build networks. The position involves working with the NRHSN and Rustica through committee meetings, annual Face-to-Face conferences, participating in teleconference and email communication.

The role of the secretary is to prepare agendas for, and take minutes at all club meetings. The secretary also has the job of making sure each task has someone looking after it and that all tasks are completed. Further to this the secretary will ensure correspondence is attended to.

My role for Rustica involves organizing events for medical students in Launceston. I liaise with the Rustica committee in Hobart and the nursing representative in Newnham. The events are opportunities for students to sign up to Rustica and enjoy themselves. The types of events I organize are skills nights, welcome events (wine tour), elective evenings and more. I also liaise with the ATSI representative and hold lunches up in Launceston for the events they organize.
