Rustica Class Bursaries

Applications for 2008 Rustica Class Bursaries are now open. Applications will only be received via the online application form.

Background

Rustica has funding of up to $4000 per annum to allocate to member group activities. A group activity can include students within or across faculties and year groups. Please note that individual member activities are not provided for by this scholarship- please see the Rustica Bursary information for this. The aim of this funding is to provide groups of students with an insight into some of the issues involved with rural and Australian indigenous health and to encourage them to work in these areas once they have completed their degree. Many students have some great ideas about group activities that will achieve these aims but lack the funding to make it happen. Rustica aims to provide support for these groups of students financially.

Requirements

All members of the group for the proposed activity are required to be students of the Faculty of Health studying at the University of Tasmania and they all need to be full financial members of Rustica. The activity that they undertake must be within Australia . Upon completion of the activity it is required that a report of 500-1500 words describing and discussing the experience be provided to Rustica.

Class Bursaries:

The maximum total value of the bursaries is $4000 per annum. This amount will be split up to allow more members to have access to financial support. The maximum amount that will be considered per bursary is $500. The amount of each bursary allocated will depend on the cost and rurality of the activity. Applications for the bursaries may be made prospectively or retrospectively (i.e. activities occurring between 30 April 2007 and 30 April 2009 will be eligible for funding through the 2008 bursary).

Allocations of the Class Bursaries:

The bursaries will be allocated by the Rustica Executive and the Committee for the given year upon online application for the bursaries. The application form must include details of the activity, what the group aims to gain from the experience, how they have been involved with Rustica previously, and what they will contribute in the future. All applications must be completed and sent via the online application to Rustica. Applications remain open all of the year. Funds will be considered only for activities occurring in the current calendar year. Applications will be considered in the order that they are received until all funding is allocated. The committee must make a final decision and notify applicants as soon as possible.
